UzAvtosanoat Joint Stock Company (Uzbek Automobile Factory JSC) has completed construction of the 'UzAuto Trailer' plant for production of rig and trailer equipment for the 'MAN Auto - Uzbekistan' Uzbek-German Joint Venture, the joint venture told Trend on Jan. 17.

The 'UzAuto Trailer' plant, a wholly owned subsidiary of 'UzAvtosanoat JSC' will produce rig and trailer equipment: bodies and semi-trailers, containers, tent trailers and other special equipment.

The plant, located in the Samarkand region is designed to produce 2000 trailers and 1000 rigs.

It was reported in August 2009 that the 'MAN Truck & Bus AG' (a division of MAN group of companies) and 'UzAvtosanoat' created a joint venture called MAN Auto - Uzbekistan, for production of trucks. The equity participation in the joint venture is as follows: 51 percent belong to Uzbek side, and 49 percent belong to Germany.

Since Sept. 2010, the joint venture has been successfully conducting the assembly of trucks.

The joint venture's dealership and service centers were built in the Jambay district of Samarkand oblast in late April 2011.

The production includes assembly, paint shops, diagnostic areas, designed to produce up to 6,000 trucks and MAN chassis per year at two-shift work mode. In the future, the production capacity can be increased to 10 million vehicles per year.

The project on production of trucks jointly with MAN is supported by the government of Uzbekistan. Initially, the 'MAN Auto-Uzbekistan' joint venture was for four years exempted from all taxes, as well as mandatory payments to the Republican Road Fund of the Finance Ministry and from customs duties on imported goods.

In December 2013, the government extended these benefits until 2017.
