Investments by Uzbek insurance companies up by 20%

Total volume of investments of Uzbek insurers amounted to 826.66 billion soums ($1=3120.51 soums on Nov. 10) in January-September 2016 that is less by 20 percent as compared to the same period of 2015, a representative of the country’s Finance Ministry told Trend Nov. 10.

The representative noted that a major part of the investments (87.6 percent) accounted for banking deposits and securities. Meanwhile, the volume of deposits increased by 22 percent – to 389.66 billion soums, investments in securities rose by 18 percent – to 334.53 billion soums.

Total investments of insurance companies aimed at taking part in the statutory funds of enterprises rose by 8 percent – up to 51.08 billion soums, in real estate – by 65 percent to 43.13 billion soums. Meanwhile, the amount of loans issued by insurers decreased by 10 percent – to 6.94 billion soums, while the volume of other investments fell by 43 percent – to 1.32 billion soums.

In 2015, total investments of Uzbek insurers increased by 22 percent – up to 759.09 billion soums.

Currently, there are 26 insurance companies in Uzbekistan, including three life insurance companies.
