Ali Mustafayev - Trend:
The Deputy Director of the Department of Electric Power Industry of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy spoke about the necessity to build a nuclear power plant during the 16th ERRA Conference on Energy Investment and Regulatory.
“In the forecast balance sheet, which was formed until 2030, we can cover the needs of the existing stations. As for the need for electricity – the question is not so urgent,” said Talgat Abilgazy, Kazinform reported.
He also talked on the issue of the development of the alternative energy.
“To achieve the development level of alternative energy that we talked about, which is 50 percent until 2050, the issue on renewable alternative energy source is still on the agenda,” the official said.
Talking on the alternative energy sources, nuclear fuel was mentioned as an alternative to coal for Kazakhstan.
“There is no concrete plan on the construction of nuclear power plants, but the issue is considered from all points of view. First of all, of course this is safety and utilization of waste,” said Abilgazy.
