By Ali Mustafayev – Trend:

The volume of exports of Kazakhstan’s military products increased twofold in 2017, while the volume of production in this field increased by 14 percent, said the Minister of Defense and Aerospace Industries of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov during the presentation of the draft law "On the Defense Industry and the State Defense Order" in the Kazakh parliament.

The export level increased due to presence of private investors in the country’s defense industry complex, said the minister, Kazakh media reported.

He also stressed that the government of the country may create a fund for the development of the defense-industrial complex.

"We intend to establish entities that would become members of the defense industry complex. The government may provide support measures to these entities, such as financial, information, consulting, as well as foreign economic and personnel support. I would like to note that the application of measures of state support is possible with respect to domestic organizations of the defense industry complex of any form of ownership - state, quasi-state and private," said Atamkulov.

The creation of the Defense Industry Development Fund would provide for financial support to domestic scientific and technical developments and modernization of industry organizations, according to the minister.
