Canadian company to mine gold in Turkey

Canada-based gold mining and exploration company, Centerra Gold, will invest $210 million in Turkey’s Kayseri Province, the Turkish media reported March 7.

Reportedly, the Canadian company took part in exploration of gold in Turkey in 2009-2010.

The company will start construction of gold mines in Kayseri from April, and the first gold will be mined after 22 months.

Currently, there are 14 gold mines in Turkey.

Over the past 20 years, $130 million have been spent on development of gold mines in Turkey.

Turkey imported 3,649 tons of gold during the past 23 years (1995-2017). Moreover, 273 tons of gold were mined in Turkey in the past 17 years (2000-2017).
