Iran's ports stored 4.2 million tons of basic goods

Iran's ports have stored 4.2 million tons of basic goods, while 85 percent of country's imports can be used in local production, said the Minister of Economic Affairs and Finances, Trend reports citing ISNA..

"We seek to facilitate and reduce the time and process of releasing goods from customs and ports without compromizing the standards, and health and safety issues," said Farhad Dejpasand.

"Iran's agriculture sector had considerable growth in current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019) that was due to sufficient imports of basic goods. At the same time, certain amount of imported basic goods to be distributed across the country has been stored in ports," he said.

"Supporting domestic production in the current situation will help the economic growth. Some 85 percent of Iran imports will be used in production," he added. "In the current situation, businessmen and private sector should play more active role in economic area, and we seek to create proper ground for their smooth activities."
