Uzbekistan increases export of cherries to CIS countries

By the middle of this week, the supply of wholesale batches of cherries from Uzbekistan for export to Russia and other CIS countries increased sharply, Trend reports citing EastFruit portal.

"Uzbekistan now generally offers Maysky or Bahor cherries for export. Prices on FCA terms, when shipped from the Ferghana Valley, currently range from $1.8 to $2.3 per kilogram. According to market participants, the demand for Uzbek cherries remains quite high. After the first shipments of cherries to Siberia, wholesale shipments of cherries from Uzbekistan have already reached other regions of Russia, including Moscow," the message said.

"Turkish cherries are offered in more modern packaging on the Russian market. However, these offers in Russia are still significantly less than those of Uzbek cherries. The average wholesale price of Turkish cherries in Moscow is currently about $4-5 per kilogram," said the report.

The volume of production in agriculture, forestry and fisheries In Uzbekistan increased by 3.9 percent, in the first quarter of 2020 compared to same period of 2019, up to 25.2 trillion soum ($2.4 billion).
