Uzbekistan together with the scientists from the Netherlands will create a new system of agricultural education and innovations, Trend reports to the EastFruit portal.
As noted, taking into account FAO's( Food and Agriculture Organization) best international expertise in agricultural knowledge, the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan has applied to the Organization for recommendations on the creation of an agricultural extension system.
The task was undertaken by the Wageningen Research Center (the Netherlands), which for over a century has remained the most important educational and research center in the fields of crop and livestock production, environmental sciences, and socio-economic sciences.
During several months, the Wageningen Center conducted intensive consultations with the working group of the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, as a result of which the strategic structure was developed. Under the strategic stricture Center of Excellence in the field of agricultural sciences, innovations and training were created, and other tasks outlined in the Strategy of agricultural development of Uzbekistan for the period from 2020 through 2030 were implemented.
In cooperation with the Dutch Center, a Roadmap for cooperation with government agencies, the business community, research institutes, and several universities, training centers, service providers, and mass media was also developed.
"The expected innovation process will require the participation of various stakeholders, including government, private sector and producers, knowledge centers, training centers, and civil society," said Mahmud Shaumarov, FAO Regional Coordinator of the CACILM-2 Program (Central Asian Countries Initiative for Land Management).
