Georgian hazelnuts exports up as of October 18

Georgia has exported 7,007 tons of hazelnuts between August 1 and October 18, which is a 50 per cent increase compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports via the Georgian Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection.

The exports generated more than $37.6 million in revenue, marking a $13.9 million increase compared to the same period of 2019.

The ministry says that Georgian hazelnuts were exported to these EU countries: Germany (2,145 tons), Italy (1,307 tons), Czechia (404 tons), Poland (254 tons), Bulgaria (220 tons), Lithuania (182 tons), France (169 tons), Spain (165 tons), Greece (97 tons), Estonia (66 tons), Latvia (62 tons), Austria (22 tons), Slovakia, (15 tons), Croatia (10 tons).

Also, the export of Georgian hazelnuts was made to these countries as well: Russia (376 tons), Belarus (175 tons), Ukraine (148 tons), Algeria (148 tons), Brazil (136 tons), Canada (89 tons), Mexico (53 tonnes), Saudi Arabia (60 tons), Iraq (24 tons), UK (22 tons), US (19 tons).

About 50,000 tons of high quality hazelnuts are expected to be harvested in Georgia this year.
