Georgia reveals data on sales of nonstandard apples

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 20

As of November 20, Georgian farmers have already sold over 41,000 tons of nonstandard apples as part of the nonstandard apple sales support state program, Trend reports via Georgian media.

As a result, farmers have earned over 9 million lari ($2.7 million).

"This year we have received a rich harvest of apples. Georgian apple exports exceeded 4,700 tons, up 11 times compared to 2019”, Otar Shamugia, first deputy director of the Agriculture Development Agency noted.

Fourteen companies have engaged in the nonstandard apple sales support program, under which the Government subsidizes 1 kilogram of nonstandard apple by 0.10 lari ($3.05) for those processing plants that pay at least 0.22 lari ($6.70) for 1 kilogram of nonstandard apple till December 1.
