Georgia ranked first in aid per capita from donor international organizations during a pandemic, said Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani, Trend reports via Georgian media.

According to the minister of finance, the Georgian government has signed agreements with international donor organizations to receive the aid, the total amount of which exceeds $1.9 billion.

Also Machavariani spoke about three main areas in which the funds raised are spent.

"In connection with the pandemic, it became necessary to allocate additional funds in three directions: the first was to increase financing for health care - for the response to the pandemic, we allocated an additional 420 million lari in this area, and in 2021 we have planned to allocate 450 million lari," he said.

As he said, the second area is assistance to citizens. In total, more than 200 billion lari have been allocated for this, within the framework of which up to 700,000 citizens receive various types of financial assistance, and 2.5 million citizens will receive subsidies.

"The third direction is business support, for which more than 1.60 billion lari were allocated. Within the framework of this amount, benefits for income and property tax were implemented, and business support was also provided in terms of tax administration," the minister said.

By 2020, more than 50, 000 taxpayers have deferred tax liabilities for over 400 million lari, Machavariani said.
