BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 3
By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:
More than 30 percent of auto importers operating in Georgia are on the verge of bankruptcy, said the Georgian Auto-importers Association, Trend reports via Georgian media.
According to the association, without government stimulus measures, Georgia may lose the function of a regional auto hub.
“Everyone realizes the aftermath of COVID-19 pandemic, but despite this, Georgia shouldn’t lose a very important function of a regional hub for car trade. To avoid such a development of events, this issue should be actively discussed with partner countries,” the head of the Association Alexi Noniadze says.
He believes that new markets can be found and re-export volumes to existing markets can be increased.
As he noted, the introduction of temporary benefits for car dealers, including foreign, should be discussed, all the issues should be considered by stages using all available opportunities.
