Iran shares data on exports to Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states

The value of Iran's exports to 11 member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) amounted to $12.5 billion during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2021), Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi told IRIB, Trend reports.

Latifi said that Iran's exports to the SCO member states were mainly fishery products, greens, fruits, fabrics, various clothing, industrial and agricultural equipment, household appliances, carpets, petrochemicals, pistachios and dried fruit.

The official added that while in the last Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), Iran's trade turnover with 11 member states amounted to 55 million tons worth $28 billion. Of this, 46 million tons worth $13.6 billion were accounted for Iran's exports and 9 million tons worth $13.2 billion for imports.

“Among the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Iran traded the most with China. So, the value of Iran’s trade with China amounted to $18.9 billion,” he said.

Latifi also noted that the value of Iran’s trade turnover with India amounted to $3.4 billion, with Afghanistan to $2.3 billion, with Russia to $1.6 billion, with Pakistan to $1.2 billion over the last Iranian year.

According to the spokesman, Iran also had a trade turnover worth $256 million with Uzbekistan, $205 million with Kazakhstan, $51 million with Kyrgyzstan, $30 million with Belarus, $24 million with Tajikistan, and $3 million with Mongolia within the reporting period.

As reported, the eleven countries are permanent members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization - China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, and Belarus.
