Azerbaijan State Oil Company to Open Representative Offices in Kazakhstan & Switzerland

Badalova / The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) plans to open representative offices in Kazakhstan and Switzerland, the SOCAR President, Rovnag Abdullayev, said at Azerbaijan's 6th international geophysical conference on 15 October. According to him, SOCAR's new terminal on the Black Sea ( Georgia) and the oil refinery in Ceyhan ( Turkey) are being planned for the transportation of oil to the two countries.

Azerbaijan meets not only its own oil demand, but also the demands of other countries, Abdullayev said. Oil is exported to 30 countries. In 2006, oil production in Azerbaijan made up 32mln tons and there are plans to increase this to 43mln tons next year. SOCAR has 36 fields, 17 of them being on-shore. There are 23 fields in Azerbaijan being developed by different operating and local companies.

Azerbaijan's international geophysical conference including some 80 representatives from different countries is the 6th one. It will last three days.
