Azerbaijan, Baku, 20 November /corr. Trend I.Khalilova / The International Finance Corporation (IFC) commenced monitoring of the state of the energy-effectiveness in nearly in 100 Azerbaijani companies, the IFC Baku office said.
"The results of the monitoring will be supplied in January - February 2009," the same source said.
In 2005 the IFC started implementation of program on the stimulation of
investments into the energy-economy. Program is targeted to contribute to
financing the projects, directed toward raising the energy-effectiveness.
The program consists of two parts: investment direction and consulting support.
Within the investment component, the IFC provides credit lines to the banks and leasing companies, which, in turn, finance concrete projects with regards to energy efficiency.
The consulting and training support includes: individual consultations on
financial, juridical and technical questions, and also practical seminars for
questions of investment into the energy-effective technologies.
Amongst the CIS countries, the Corporation put the first investments within this program in Russia. Through the Russian banks, $200mln was presented for financing of energy-effective projects over the past three years.
Currently the IFC commenced realizing projects in Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia and Armenia.
