The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) will deliver over one billion cubic meters of gas to Georgia in 2009. Fifty percent will account for its own resources, SOCAR Energy Georgia head Mahir Mammadov said. The remaining amount will be delivered to Georgia via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzrum pipeline and Russian gas transits to Armenia.

"Due to the global financial crisis the figure may be adjusted by 5-10 percent," Mammadov said.

Roughly 200-300 million cubic meters of commercial gas is exported from the country.

"I think the figure will hit 200 million cubic meters," Mammadov added.

Gas usage has dropped due to favorable weather conditions in Georgia.

SOCAR exports roughly two billion cubic meters of gas daily.

"Daily gas supplies to Georgia have been adjusted to the season and weather conditions. We are able to deliver seven million cubic meters of gas per day," Mammadov added.

In 2008, SOCAR exported 710 million cubic meters to Georgia, including gas from the Shah Deniz field," Mammadov said.
