In the first quarter of 2009, Azerbaijan exported oil products worth over $3.2 billion which makes up 88.4 percent of country's total exports, according to the balance of payments released by the Central Bank. The report said oil products still dominate among others. Oil product exports reduced more than two times compared to the same period of 2008.
Refined oil product account for $245.6 million and crude oil $2.9 billion of oil product exports. Nearly $2.9 billion accounts for the oil produced by AIOC, $2.02 billion for Azerbaijani profitable oil and part of it ($636.1 million) were repatriated by large oil companies through direct investments in oil and gas projects. SOCAR and other companies exported crude oil worth $128.1 million.
Total volume of export goods in non-oil sector reduced 34 percent and totaled $170.9 million.
