SOCAR extracts over 5 mln tons of oil in Jan.-Sept.

In January-September, SOCAR's Oil and Gas Producing Departments extracted 39.43 million barrels of oil ( 5.38 million tons) in offshore and onshore fields of the country compared to about 40.23 million barrels (5.49 million tons) in January-September 2010, SOCAR said on Friday.

In 2010, the departments extracted about 53.36 million barrels (7.28 million tons) in offshore and onshore fields of the country compared to about 53.52 barrels (7.3 million tons) in 2009.

About 9.33 million barrels fell to joint projects of SOCAR with foreign companies in Jan.-Sept. About 1.76 million barrels fell to operating companies. About 6.9 million barrels fell to "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli" project and 689,020 barrels fell to gas condensate from Shah Deniz field.

SOCAR received 5.5 billion cubic meters of gas in Jan.-Sept. compared to 5.75 billion cubic meters during the same period of last year. SOCAR's oil and gas departments extracted about 5.1 billion cubic meters of gas. Joint ventures and operating companies which produce natural gas onshore delivered 158.5 million cubic meters of gas to SOCAR during this period.

In 2010, SOCAR received about 7.6 billion cubic meters compared to 7.33 billion cubic meters in 2009.

Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC) extracted 2.9 billion cubic meters of associated gas in the field "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli" in January-September for SOCAR compared to about 2.53 billion cubic meters during the same period of last year.
