Azerbaijan, Baku, May 3 /Trend E.Ismayilov/
State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) will start drilling the first exploratory well in the prospective offshore structure Goshadash, a source at SOCAR told Trend on Thursday in June.
"Exploratory drilling is scheduled to begin next month. The depth of exploratory well will be 3500 metres," the source said.
He said drilling will be carried out for eight months. The source did not give predictions on the possible volume of hydrocarbon reserves.
Drilling operations will be carried out by the Complex drilling operations Trust of SOCAR.
Earlier, SOCAR's environmental department carried out monitoring of the assessment on Goshadash.
Monitoring stations were selected to study the rate and direction of ocean currents, and the analysis of some physicochemical parameters of seawater was carried out directly on the board.
In addition samples of water, ground, zooplankton, benthos and phytoplankton were collected for chemical and biological analysis. These were submitted to laboratories for complex analysis investigations.
