Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) project remains committed to conducting all its activities safely, according to TAP Managing Director Ian Bradshaw.
He made the remarks during the visit of Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to Alexandroupoli city, where the work on the project is currently underway, said the message on TAP’s website.
“Today’s visit constitutes yet another example of the support the TAP project has received over the years from Greek authorities, on both national and local level,” said Bradshaw. “Thanks to that support, we are proceeding full steam ahead in line with our schedule.”
“So far, we have cleared and graded more than 190 km, strung over 110 km of line pipes, and welded another 80 km collectively in Greece and Albania,” he added.
TAP managing director pointed out that today there are more than 1,500 people working on the project directly in Greece.

TAP is a part of the Southern Gas Corridor which is one of the priority energy projects for the EU.
TAP project envisages transportation of gas from the Stage 2 of development of Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz gas and condensate field to the EU countries.
The 870-kilometer pipeline will be connected to the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) on the Turkish-Greek border, run through Greece, Albania and the Adriatic Sea, before coming ashore in Italy's south.
