Oil products’ consumption up in Azerbaijan

In 2016, consumption of petroleum products amounted to 4.1 million tons in Azerbaijan, which is 10.7 percent more than in 2015, said a report of the State Statistics Committee.

The report says that 30.5 percent of the consumed petroleum products accounted for gasoline, 26.3 percent accounted for diesel fuel, 21.4 percent for black oil, 4.8 percent for naphtha, 7.3 percent for kerosene and aviation fuel, 4.2 percent for bitumen, 3.4 percent for liquefied gas, while 1.1 percent accounted for lubricants and 1 percent accounted for other petroleum products.

In 2016, commercial gas reserves in Azerbaijan amounted to 21 billion cubic meters. Some 89.3 percent of the reserves were formed through production, 9.3 percent were formed through the reserves available in early 2016 and 1.4 percent were formed through imports.

Some 49.6 percent of natural gas reserves were consumed in Azerbaijan, 38.4 percent were exported, 3.8 percent accounted for the loss and the remaining 8.2 percent were left as backup volumes.
