By Tamilla Mammadova - Trend:

The total volume of aviation oil imports to Georgia amounted to 3,000 tons in May 2020, which is 2,000 tons, or 200 percent more than in April this year, Trend reports referring to the Union of Oil Product Importers of Georgia.

Meanwhile, this is 9,000 tons or 75 percent less compared to May 2019.

According to the union, in May 2020, 2,700 tons (90 percent) of aviation oil was imported to Georgia from Turkmenistan and 300 tons (10 percent) from Turkey.

From January through May 2020, the import of aviation oil to Georgian amounted to 22,400 tons, which is 20,500 tons or 47.9 percent less than the same period last year (42,900 tons).

Of this volume, 17,300 tons (77.2 percent) of imports accounted for Turkmenistan, 2,900 tons (12.9 percent) for Turkey, 2,200 tons (9.8 percent) for Romania, and 30 tons (0.1 percent) for Egypt.

“The reduction in aviation oil imports year-on-year is directly related to the restrictions imposed due to the spread of COVID-19,” the union said.
