BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 1

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

The stability of lari will stop fuel price rise in Georgia, Trend reports via the Union of Oil Product Importers.

According to the statement, the depreciation of lari has had a major impact on the recent rise in fuel prices.

"In the last few days, the national currency has strengthened significantly against USD, which raises optimistic expectations and is an important factor for the socio-economic stability in the country. We hope that the exchange rate of lari will continue to strengthen," the statement reads.

As reported, the fuel price in Georgia depends on two main factors: the international price of oil products according to S&P Global Platt’s and lari exchange rate against USD.

Recently, the price of fuel is mainly influenced by lari exchange rate against USD.

"Given that lari has strengthened significantly in recent days (about 13 tetri/3.97 cents), it can be said that current fuel prices will remain stable and will not increase if lari doesn’t begin to depreciate," the statement reads.
