Trend:
Kazakhstan and Russia actively cooperate in the field of green economy, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated during the forum of interregional cooperation between the two countries, Trend reports citing Kazinform.
“Our countries have huge potential for the development of renewable and alternative energy. By 2030, Kazakhstan intends to increase the share of renewable energy sources in the country's energy balance from the current 3 percent to 15 percent. To achieve this, we provide comprehensive support to investors. In particular, the state guarantees procurement at an auction tariff for up to 15 years,” Tokayev said.
According to the president, a Russian company is successfully operating in this area in Kazakhstan. The total volume of projects for the production of solar power generation by this Russian company has already reached 240 megawatts.
“Kazakhstan also has a high potential for wind energy - about trillion kilowatt-hours per year. Our country is among the 8 countries with high export potential of green hydrogen,” he noted. It’s obvious that the implementation of projects in the field of alternative energy requires the formation of an industrial and scientific infrastructure, and the availability of highly qualified personnel.”
“Therefore, we are creating a center of competency for high-tech innovations in the energy sector,” added Tokayev.
