BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 5. It is expected to export 9.6 bcm of gas from Azerbaijan to Italy this year, Trend reports via the Azerbaijani Ministry of Energy.
Meanwhile, it is noted that this was stated within the framework of the meeting in Brazil between Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Italian Minister of Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Pichetto Fratin.
Italy bought 9.988 bcm of gas from Azerbaijan in 2023, which was delivered via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP).
Italy has been the largest customer of Azerbaijani gas, receiving it via TAP since December 2020.
Shahbazov pointed to the expansion of energy ties with Italy, in particular through cooperation between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and Eni S.P.A.
The sides also discussed the increase of TAP throughput capacity and the participation of Italian companies in Azerbaijan's green projects.
He invited his Italian counterpart to take part in the Energy Day to be held within COP29 in Baku in November.
