Azerbaijan, Baku, 13 November / Trend corr. S.Babayeva / About AZN 2mln has been invested in telecommunication field of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) since the beginning of 2008, Rovshan Mammadov, the Minister of Communication and Information Technology of NAR, said.
"We gradually increase amount of investment year by year," Mammadov said.
According to Mammadov, forecast of amount of investment for 2009 has been determined at more than AZN 2mln level. Means will be directed to construction of fibro-optic main and introduction of new services.
From January to September service at AZN 17.2mln amount was rendered in NAR, which is by 51.5% exceeds figure of the same period in 2007. A total of 80.8% of the rendered service or about AZN 14mln falls on private companies, which growth made up 56.4%.
Only a service, which was rendered of the NAR Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, amounted to about AZN 3.3mln, rising by 33.6% as compared to the same period in 2007.
The Ministry laid 2,912 units of telephone line within nine months.
Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) of Azerbaijan lies to the west of Azerbaijan. It borders on with Armenia in north and east and with Turkey and Iran in west and south. The total area of NAR is 5,500 sq m with a population of over 360,000. The capital city is Nakhchivan.
