Azerbaijan, Baku, June 24 / Trend /
Informatization Department of the Ministry of Education held a roundtable devoted to training of teachers in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), the project said on June 24.
The Department informed that the roundtable covered enhancement of ICT training programs designed for teachers within Azerbaijan Republic State Education System Informatization Program 2008-2012.
During the meeting it was stressed that teachers who passed trainings within the State Program had only basic computer skills. But since more and more teachers are involved into the trainings, especially those representing regions and not having even general computer knowledge, the efficiency of knowledge and skills gained at the trainings decreases.
Therefore, it was decided to hold additional trainings for teachers with low computer literacy. It was suggested to divide the teachers into two groups in accordance with their knowledge, and then organise extra courses for those who know about computers less.
Furthermore, it was discussed certification of teachers after they pass a special test exam.
IT trainings for teachers within the State Program are conducted on the basis of "Improvement of Teachers' Professional Level" by School Online and "Education for Future" by Intel manuals, created in compliance with generally recognized world methods. Indicated training materials were successfully introduced by experienced specialists according to the local education system.
In course of the initial training stage, Azerbaijan invited authors of manuals from U.S. and other countries. They have prepared training staff. Today around 200 instructors across the Republic work on the basis of these manuals.
