Azerbaijan, Baku, Sept. 11 / Trend , H.Valiyev/

Azerbaijan and Russia have coordinated the GSM-frequencies in border areas, said Gulam Abdullayev, Chief Adviser of the Telecommunication Department at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

Abdullaev said the representatives of the mobile operators of Azerbaijan (Azercell, Bakcell and Azerfon) and Russia (MTS, Megafon and Beeline) attended the event organized in Moscow on Sept. 7-9.
The main purpose of the coordination of radio frequency resources is to address cases of overlap and to ensure normal operation of mobile communication in border areas.

At the meeting, the sides agreed on the use of frequency resources by the two countries' operators on an equal level. GSM operators will identify specific frequency resources (900 and 1800 Mhz), which will not be used by another party. Following the meeting, the parties signed a protocol. A similar protocol has been signed today with Iran and Georgia.
