In 2017, 157 million manats were invested in ICT and postal communication sector of Azerbaijan, according to a report of the Cabinet of Ministers.
Investments in the ICT sector decreased by 12.1 percent in 2017 as compared to 2016.
The sector’s revenues amounted to 1.7 billion manats in 2017 that is by 6.7 percent more than in 2016.
Forty-two new automatic telephone exchanges were commissioned in the country, 34 automatic telephone exchanges were modernized and 12 post offices and five postal agencies were commissioned thanks to investments of communication enterprises.
According to the results of 2017, more than 9,300 numbers, 64,600 internet ports were put into operation and 139 kilometers of optical communication lines were laid.
The level of mobile communication stood at 106 percent in the country. The level of internet use totaled 78 percent, and broadband access services – 72 percent in the country.
