Turkey increases subsidies for travel companies

Turkey has increased subsidies for travel companies in order to develop tourism, Turkey’s Resmi Gazete newspaper reported March 13.

Travel companies, depending on the number of tourists brought to Turkey, will receive subsidies worth $1,500-$9,000.

It was earlier reported that Turkey will increase the amount of subsidies for travel companies to develop tourism. The amount of subsidies will be increased by 40 percent and reach 800 million Turkish liras in 2018.

Moreover, 565 million liras were allocated in Turkey as part of the tourism support program in 2017.

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute, Turkey's income from tourism grew 18.9 percent in 2017, as compared to 2016, and amounted to $26.283 billion.

Thus, 32.4 million tourists visited Turkey in 2017, which is 27.84 percent more than in 2016.
