Volume of cargo transported via Iran's Northwest Railways growing

The volume of cargo transported through Iran's Northwest Railways increased by 8 percent during the first 7 months of the current Iranian year (March 20-October 21, 2020) compared to the same period last Iranian year, said Head of General Office of Northwest Railways Ali Khodaei, Trend reports referring to the railway office’s website.

The official said that 289 million ton-kilometers of cargo was transported through these railways during the reporting period.

“While in the same period last Iranian year, 267 million ton-kilometers of cargo was transported through the Northwest Railways, he added.

Khodaei noted the transported goods via Northwest Railways were mainly iron concentrate, iron ore, fertilizer, soil zinc, soil copper, etc.

Iran's Northwest Railways General Office operates Iran's Qazvin, Zanjan, East Azerbaijan and West Azerbaijan railways. The total length of the railway under the control of the office is 601 kilometers.
