BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 3. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at the ports of Iran’s Bushehr Province increased by 7.8 percent, during the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through June 21, 2023), compared to the same period in the last year, Director General of Bushehr Province’s Ports and Maritime Department, Mohammad Shakibinasab said, Trend reports.
Shakibinasab said that overall, 15.7 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the ports of the Bushehr Province in 3 months.
“Of the mentioned volume, over 13 million tons accounted for crude oil and related products, while approximately 2.68 million tons for non-oil products, which is an increase of 7.8 percent and 8.7 percent, respectively, compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he noted.
Within 3 months, 5,430 tons of cargo were transited through the province’s ports. This shows a 100 percent increase compared to the same period in the last year, the director general added.
According to Shakibinasab, 39,517 TEU containers were loaded and unloaded at the province’s ports for 3 months.
“In general, 1,756 ships docked at the province’s ports during 3 months. Some 1,178 of them had a carrying capacity of less than 1,000 tons, while 578 had a carrying capacity more than 1,000 tons," he said.
At the same time, 1,594 ships departed from ports of Bushehr Provimce in 3 months. Some 1,062 of them had a carrying capacity of less than 1,000 tons, while 532 had a carrying capacity more than 1,000 tons, the director general also pointed out.
There are several main ports, including Bushehr, Kharg, Genaveh, Dayyer, Asaluyeh, and others operating in Iran’s Bushehr Province.
