BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 6. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at the ports of Iran’s Bushehr Province increased by 9.7 percent, during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Director General of Bushehr Province’s Ports and Maritime Department Mohammad Shakibinasab said, Trend reports.
“Approximately 27 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the ports of Bushehr Province in 5 months,” Shakibinasab noted.
He added that over 22 million tons of the mentioned volume accounted for crude oil and related products, while around 5 million tons accounted for non-oil products.
The director general also pointed out that about 13.2 million tons of goods were exported through the ports of Bushehr Province within 5 months, representing a 19.6 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
“In addition, 11,000 tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Bushehr Province during the reporting period, which is an increase of 105 percent compared to the same period last year,” the official said.
Also, 68,900 TEU containers were loaded and unloaded at the province’s ports in 5 months, according to him.
In 5 months, 3,056 ships docked at the ports of Bushehr province. The capacity of 1,012 of them was more than 1,000 tons, Shakibinasab said.
There are several main ports, including Bushehr, Kharg, Genaveh, Dayyer, Asaluyeh, and others, operating in Iran’s Bushehr Province.
