Russian President Vladimir Putin has postponed his visit to Kazakhstan. Instead, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will visit Astana to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship between Russia and Kazakhstan on May 25, Kommersant reported.
It was originally planned that the newly elected Russian president would pay his first foreign visit to Belarus. According to the Kremlin press service, the visit will take place on May 31.
Then it was reported that first of all, Vladimir Putin would visit Kazakhstan.
This seemed to be confirmed by the Kremlin's website. It was reported that during the summit of leaders of the CIS countries, Nursultan Nazarbayev invited his Russian counterpart to visit Astana on May 25 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between Russia and Kazakhstan. Putin accepted the invitation.
However, according to the newspaper, at present, Putin decided to pay his first official visit to Belarus as was originally planned and postpone the visit to Astana until June 7-8 after the SCO summit in Beijing.
