ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 14. Industrial production of bananas will begin in the Turkestan region, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan said, Trend reports.
The 5.3-hectare greenhouse facility that will be used to cultivate banana trees has been constructed by the Turkish GenGroup Qazaqstan firm. The climate of Kazakhstan has been suited to by a specifically produced kind of bananas.
Future greenhouse construction will add an additional 5 hectares, increasing yearly banana production to around 1,000 tons.
The first harvest is anticipated to occur in 6 to 8 months. In addition to bananas, greenhouses will also be used to raise tomatoes and strawberries.
The project cost $4 million in its first stage. During the construction process, the Turkish company used strong structures, and the greenhouses are equipped with a climate control system and an adaptive power supply.
