ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 16. About 641 billion tenge (about $1.4 billion) of investments were attracted to the Karaganda region of Kazakhstan from January to October 2023, of which 86 percent are private investments, said the head of the regional executive power (akim) Yermaganbet Bulekpayev, Trend reports.
In addition, a pool of 56 investment projects was created with a total investment volume of 1.5 trillion tenge (about $3.27 billion) and the creation of more than 13,000 jobs. Five projects worth 21 billion tenge (about $45.9 million) were launched, employing 385 people.
By the end of the year, six more new production facilities will open, including factories for the production of household appliances and car tires. More than 1,900 Karaganda residents will be provided with work.
Today, the development of the Saran industrial zone continues in the region. Infrastructure work there is now being completed. In the territories of the Sary-Arka and Saran industrial zones, about 400 hectares of free area have been prepared for future investors.
At the end of 2022, the gross inflow of foreign direct investment into Kazakhstan amounted to $28 billion, which is 17.7 percent more than the results of 2021 ($23.8 billion). This is a record figure over the past 10 years; in 2012, the volume of FDI reached $28.9 billion.
The leaders in terms of investment in the republic were the Netherlands: $8.33 billion (an increase of 19.7 percent), the US: $5.1 billion (+81.9 percent), Switzerland: $2.8 billion (+2.4 percent), Belgium: $1.56 billion (+46 percent), Russia: $1.52 billion (-19.7 percent), South Korea: $1.48 billion (+84.8 percent), China: $1.43 billion (-22.5 percent), France: $770.2 million (+27.4 percent), the UK: $661 million (-35.7 percent), and Germany: $469.5 million (+45.4 percent).
