ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 15. Kazakhstan KEGOC JSC (Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company) has received 32.7 billion tenge (about $70.5 million) of net profit from January through October 2023, Trend reports.
Compared to the same period in 2022, profit growth was 70 percent (for 10 months of 2022, profit was 23 billion tenge or about $49.6 million).
Income from main activities from January through October of this year amounted to 197 billion tenge (about 425 million). Compared to the same period in 2022, income from main activities increased by 23 billion tenge (about $49.6 million).
The company's revenue increased mainly due to income from regulated services as a result of an increase in tariffs and an increase in the volume of services provided.
Total consolidated expenses for 10 months of 2023 amounted to 168 billion tenge (about $362.4 million).
Electricity consumption in Kazakhstan for 10 months of this year amounted to 93.9 billion kWh, which is 2.5 percent more than in the same period last year.
In 2022, Kazakhstan produced 113.8 billion kWh of electricity, which is 1.1 percent less than in 2021.
Exports amounted to 2.2 billion kWh (+16.1 percent). The main buyers were: Russia – 1.5 billion kWh (+16.6 percent), Kyrgyzstan – 690 million kWh (+15.1 percent).
In turn, Kazakhstan bought 1.7 times more electricity than a year earlier - 3.7 billion kWh. Most of it was imported from Russia - 1.9 billion kWh (+8.4 percent), and Kyrgyzstan supplied 1.7 billion kWh (+5.6 times).
