BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 6. Kyrgyzstan is focused on enhancing trade and economic relations with Afghanistan across various sectors, said the Chairman of the Cabinet of the Ministers Akylbek Japarov during a meeting with Noorullah Amin, Acting Charge d'Affaires of Afghanistan to Kyrgyzstan, Trend reports.

“Kyrgyzstan is interested in developing trade and economic ties with Afghanistan, including improving transportation links, jointly exploring Afghan mineral resources, and collaborating in energy, industry, and agriculture. We are also committed to advancing promising projects,” Japarov said.

Meanwhile, the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently announced that Kyrgyzstan has removed the Taliban from its list of banned organizations. No official statement has been issued by the Kyrgyz side regarding this matter.

According to the National Statistical Agency of Kyrgyzstan, trade between the two countries amounted to $8.775 million in the first six months of this year, a 33.6 percent decrease compared to $13.212 million from January through June 2023. Kyrgyz exports to Afghanistan were $5.836 million, while imports totaled $2.938 million.
