BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 7. World Bank (WB) Managing Director of Operations Axel van Trotsenburg met with the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon on October 6, Trend reports with reference to the press service of the World Bank.

During his visit to Tajikistan, Trotsenburg reiterated support for Tajikistan’s efforts to achieve resilient and inclusive economic growth, given the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and the situation in Ukraine.

He stressed the importance of building resilience of Tajik economy to future shocks and achieving an inclusive growth path by promoting reforms aimed at transparency, competition and private sector development.

“In Tajikistan, a number of important reforms, supported by the WB, are currently underway, including in tax, energy, macro-fiscal management, investment climate, and social safety nets – all areas critical to promoting dynamic and inclusive economic activity,” Trotsenburg said.

Meanwhile, with the support of the World Bank, a total of 23 projects worth $1.4 billion are being implemented in Tajikistan.
