DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, December 15. The number of POS terminals in Tajikistan at trading and service enterprises totaled 5,030 as of the end of October 2023, Trend reports.
According to data from the National Bank of Tajikistan, the number of POS terminals climbed by 8 percent in a month, reaching 4,622 by the end of September 2023.
Simultaneously, the country's ATM count is expected to reach 2,151 by the end of October 2023, a 2.8-percent growth from the end of September (2,092 units).
As of October 31, 2023, the total number of bank payment cards in circulation in Tajikistan was 6.539 million. This indicates a 2 percent gain in a month over the figures at the end of September of this year (6.409 million cards).
At the same time, the number of bank payment cardholders totaled 6.311 million, which is a 0.25-percent increase within the month (6.295 million cardholders as of the end of September).
As of October 31, 2023, Tajikistan operated 63 credit financial institutions, including 14 traditional banks, 1 Islamic bank, and 1 non-bank credit organization.
