DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, December 28. Tajikistan aims to reduce the country's poverty rate to 10 percent over the next 7 years, Trend reports.
President Emomali Rahmon issued the corresponding directive to the government while addressing the Supreme Assembly of Tajikistan. He highlighted that the poverty rate had decreased from 29.5 percent in 2017 to 21.2 percent in 2023.
Additionally, the president emphasized the need for the effective implementation of strategies in 2024 to ensure a growth rate of the national economy of no less than 8 percent.
He said that as a result of the government's constructive programs, the revenue part of the state budget has increased annually. In 2023, it expanded by 1.6 times compared to 2017.
On December 28, the President of Tajikistan delivered his annual address to the Supreme Assembly, outlining the main directions of the country's domestic and foreign policies.
The event was attended by the Prime Minister, government members, the Head of the Executive Office of the President of Tajikistan, heads of ministries and state committees, representatives of various social, political, and creative associations, leaders of republican enterprises and institutions, banks, a group of businessmen and entrepreneurs, youth activists, representatives of diplomatic missions, and journalists.
