Value of outstanding loans of Tajikistan's financial institutions increases

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 5. Outstanding loans of financial institutions in Tajikistan reached 12.672 billion somoni ($1.191 billion) from January through July 2024.

The figure rose by 17.7 percent compared to 10.764 billion somoni (1 billion) during the same period in 2023, according to data from the National Bank of Tajikistan obtained by Trend.

The breakdown of outstanding loans by sector is as follows:

- Agriculture: 1.735 billion somoni ($163 million)

- Industry: 1.459 billion somoni ($137 million)

- Construction: 450.515 million somoni ($42 million)

- Transport: 82.273 million somoni ($7.7 million)

- Catering: 25.287 million somoni ($2.3 million)

- Services: 921.475 million somoni ($86.6 million)

- Foreign trade: 1.840 billion somoni ($172.9 million)

- Financial intermediation: 1.934 million somoni ($181,800)

- Consumption: 5.910 billion somoni ($555.5 million)

- Others: 243.959 million somoni ($22.9 million)

As of the end of July 2024, a total of 63 credit financial organizations were operating in Tajikistan, including 14 traditional banks, 1 Islamic bank, 1 non-bank credit organization, 19 microcredit deposit organizations, 3 microcredit organizations, and 25 microcredit funds.
