BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 17. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev met with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Netherlands to Turkmenistan (with residence in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan) Andre Carstens, Trend reports with reference to the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on the development of cooperation through the European Union and also stressed that in order to promote trade and economic cooperation, an EU-Turkmenistan Joint Committee was established.

They noted that at the moment 20 meetings of this joint committee have been organized, the last of which was held on November 24, 2022, in the capital of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat.

In expanding the political and diplomatic dialogue, a special place was given to increasing contacts between foreign ministries, in particular, the establishment of a mechanism for regular political consultations.

Noting the great potential in the trade and economic sphere, Vepa Hajiyev pointed out the expediency of finding ways to increase the turnover of goods, including by creating a Business Council or a Working Group.

The diplomats noted with satisfaction the institutions of interregional cooperation in Central Asia–EU format, the last meeting of which was held in Samarkand city (Uzbekistan) on November 17, 2022.
