BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 21. Uzbekistan has exported textile products worth $218.7 million in January 2023, Trend reports via the Uzbek State Statistics Committee.
According to the statistics, the figure decreased by 14.5 percent, compared to the figure for January 2022 ($253.8 million).
In January 2023, more than 369 types of Uzbek textile products were exported to 35 countries.
During the reporting period, most of the Uzbek textile products were exported to Russia ($102.7 million), followed by Türkiye ($34.2 million), Kyrgyzstan ($24.6 million), China ($23.1 million), Poland and Iran ($5.2 million), Kazakhstan ($4.7 million), Belarus ($4.1 million), Tajikistan and Italy ($2.5 million), Ukraine ($1.6 million), Azerbaijan and Egypt ($1.4 million) and Germany ($1.1 million).
The statistics note that in the structure of textile exports, the main share is taken by cotton yarn (45.8 percent), as well as finished textile products (39.5 percent).
Earlier in January, the leadership of Uzbekistan announced that the country's textile industry was included in the list of economic sectors, which are expected to reach new levels in 2023. This year, Uzbekistan plans to allocate $300 million for the development of the industry.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan exported textile products worth $3.1 billion in 2022. From January through December 2022, more than 552 types of Uzbek textile products were exported to 73 countries of the world.
