Iranian students staged a rally in front of the parliament building in protest against the decision taken in connection with the Free Islamic University, FARS news agency reported.
The protesters shouted slogans "Free University is not private property", "Jasbi commits a crime, but Parliament supports it".
Abdullah Jasbi is Rector of the Free Islamic University.
Yesterday the Iranian parliament approved the draft on the transfer of the Free Islamic University to the Waqf (the institution of Islamic law, meaning the property withdrawn from circulation and intended for use, usually for charity), as well as the use of the founding council. About 134 MPs voted for the project, 72 - against.
