Tehran, Iran, Oct.14
Trend:
The whole world should know that insecurity in the region is pressure not on the Islamic Republic of Iran, but on the global economy and global shipping, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said during a press conference on Oct. 14, Trend reports citing IRIB.
“Our officials announced on Friday morning that an Iranian tanker was in trouble in the Red Sea and after a few hours they were told that it had been attacked. It became clear that this attack was made by a missile and a rocket launcher," said the president. "A frigate fired several rockets, two of which hit the tanker. The camera on the oil tanker has captured the images, which show from what side the missiles were launched.”
"Missile parts were collected and inspected,” Rouhani added. “Certainly, it is not the work of an individual or a group.”
It is not clear yet, who is behind the attack, but the culprit has to pay the price, said Rouhani.
An oil tanker belonging to the National Iranian Oil Company was hit and damaged by two missiles on Oct. 11.
