Iran is reviewing the invitation for the JCPOA Joint Commission meeting, said Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"The JCPOA Joint Commission meeting will be held according to its procedure, we are reviewing the invitation for this event and how to respond to it," said Khatibzadeh.

"Iran is reviewing the invitation, since the US is a not a member of the JCPOA, and we're looking to see whether the US has been invited to participated as an observer," he said.

"The US withdrew from the JCPOA, but it's return requires legal responsibilities," Khatibzadeh said, adding that there should be no preconditions for lifting the sanctions off Iran.

"The US not only left the JCPOA but it set traps, so nobody would have the advantages of the deal," said the official.

"Iran has specified the way for the US to return," he said. "First the US should announce its commitments to the JCPOA, enter, and then lift the sanctions, then it could attend the negotiations."

"Mr. Biden should decide if he wants to continue the previous government's failed policy of maximum pressure," Khatibzadeh said. "If he distances from it, the path of the US could change."

"We understand the US efforts to move out of isolation but it is not only by talking, but by action and by distancing itself from unilateral path of the previous US government," he said.
