Iran to build 50 housing units in Venezuela

(IRNA) - Director General of the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Industries and Mines Qader Soleimani here Tuesday said that 50 housing units will be constructed in Venezuela by Iranian contractors.

He told IRNA that one of the memoranda of understanding (MoUs) signed between the two sides, during the recent visit of President Hugo Chavez to Iran, is related to formation of Iran-Venezuela Housing Company and construction of residential units in Venezuela by Iranian contractors, reports Trend.

"According to the inked document, six Iranian contractors from the private sector will form a consortium under the supervision of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and will visit Venezuela to discuss details of the housing projects," he said. Stating that the Venezuelan partner aims to provide housing for the country's deprived social classes, he said that Venezuela's government has undertaken to purchase the houses to be constructed by Iranian contractors.

"Iranian contractors should depart for Venezuela within 10 days and ink the final contract 40 days after the date of signing of the relevant MoU.

The document on formation of joint housing company was signed by Iranian Minister of Industries and Mines Ali-Reza Tahmasbi and Venezuelan Oil Minister Rafael Ramirez on Sunday July 30.
