National Iranian Oil Company has rejected reports about halting of a contract with Iran's Jahad-e Daneshgahi institute for manufacturing drilling rigs.
NIOC managing director Roknoddin Javadi said the contract has not been halted, but the institute needs to acquire necessary knowledge and capability to be able to manufacture drilling rigs, Iran's Tasnim news agency reported on October 13.
Meanwhile, the managing director of Iran's North Drilling Company Hedayatollah Khademi had said that he was completely unaware of the contract, which included construction of 14 drilling rigs.
Hamid-Reza Tayyebi, the head of Iran's Jahad-e Daneshgahi Institute said on October 8 that the Iranian Oil Ministry has adopted a new strategy to stop building drilling rigs domestically.
