The latest statistics on the exports of goods suggest that the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA/ nuclear deal) has hugely contributed to Iran’s textile industry.

According to the latest statistics by the Customs Administration of Iran, the country’s exports of clothing items over the first half of the current fiscal year (starting March 20) has increased by 24 percent and its imports of the same products dropped by 24.2 percent.

The head of Tehran’s Apparel Manufacturers and Retailers Union, Abolqasem Shirazi, earlier told Trend that the country had taken serious measures aimed at renewing its garment manufacturing industry.

He also added that the country had eyes set on the regional garment markets with plans to export products to those countries.

Following the implementation of the JCPOA, the Iranian administration announced plans to grab its share from the international garment market in collaboration with leading companies.

The stats now prove that the government has relatively met its goal of turning into an exporter of clothing items from an absolute importer.
